Ron’s Corner
April 18th, 2007 by Tom Volhein
Ron is my best friend from high school. We both left home at early ages to pursue our art – his, fine arts and theater. After decades apart, we now find ourselves back in touch, with each other and our passions. Here is what Ron has to say about his work.
“It’s like you [Tom] with your music and your recording work. In my case I’m able to look at a model posed in space and see how their body exists in space: what the inner gestural expression is, how their body flows and relates to itself. Then the planar aspects of their body and how the light reflects off it depending on the bodies relationship and proximity to the light. Technically I have grown more comfortable with the instruments of expression (in this case a simple graphite pencil and kneaded eraser). I’m able to work more quickly and with more surety and if something is awry I’m able to make adjustments on the go — I know how to see with more sophistication.”
